WARSAW
A Polish radio station faced criticism on Wednesday for continuing its broadcasts with an AI-generated host after laying off its journalists. “OFF Radio Krakow,” based in Krakow, resumed programming weeks after the layoffs, using an AI project for its hosting duties.
The station announced that the broadcasts would feature AI-generated hosts, stating, “This experiment aims to explore whether AI is a threat or an opportunity for radio, media, and journalism.”
In response, former host Mateusz Demski started a petition against the initiative, arguing that employing AI hosts could result in machines replacing experienced media workers. The petition has already collected over 15,000 signatures.
