Austin Strengthens U.S. Commitment During Ukraine Visit

In his fourth visit to Ukraine as Secretary of Defense, Lloyd J. Austin III arrived today to meet with Ukrainian leaders, reaffirming the United States’ steadfast support for Ukraine in its ongoing fight against Russian aggression. During his visit, Secretary Austin will engage with Ukrainian leadership, emphasizing the U.S. commitment to providing the security assistance Ukraine needs to defend itself on the battlefield.

At the conclusion of his visit, Secretary Austin is scheduled to deliver a speech, highlighting Ukraine’s resilience in combatting what he described as “Putin’s war of choice.” His remarks will focus on the importance of equipping Ukraine’s armed forces with the necessary capabilities and why their fight is crucial for U.S. and global security.

Since April 2022, Austin has led the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG), a coalition of nearly 50 nations united in supporting Ukraine’s defense efforts. Together, these nations have provided billions of dollars in security assistance, ensuring that Ukraine is prepared not only for current battles but also for long-term defense against Russian aggression.–News Desk
