CBP Officers Seize Over $516K Worth of Cocaine at Del Rio Port of Entry

Del Rio, Texas — U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Del Rio Port of Entry made a significant drug seizure on September 18, 2024, uncovering more than $516,000 worth of cocaine. The operation resulted in the discovery of over 38 pounds of cocaine, hidden within a vehicle’s floorboard compartment.

The seizure occurred when CBP officers at the Del Rio International Bridge referred a gray Dodge 3500 pick-up truck, towing a black utility trailer, for a secondary inspection. Utilizing advanced non-intrusive inspection technology, along with the officers’ expertise, the agents were able to detect and examine the concealed packages. A total of 23 packages were found, with the combined street value of the cocaine estimated at $516,896.

“Our frontline officers continue to maintain strict vigilance, and their attention to detail and dedication to the border security mission resulted in this significant seizure,” said Liliana Flores, Port Director at Del Rio Port of Entry. “The use of non-intrusive inspection technology, coupled with officer experience, contributed to this seizure.”

Following the discovery, CBP seized the narcotics, and Homeland Security Investigation (HSI) special agents have initiated a criminal investigation into the incident.–News Desk
