CBP Updates Reporting Requirements for Great Lakes Boaters

As the boating season nears, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in Detroit is reminding pleasure boaters in the Great Lakes area about the need to comply with reporting requirements. Boaters arriving from foreign ports, or those interacting with vessels outside the territorial seas, must report to CBP immediately upon U.S. entry.

To streamline the process, CBP encourages the use of the CBP ROAM™ app, a free mobile application available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. This app allows boaters to report their arrival remotely, fulfilling the legal requirement for face-to-face inspections under certain conditions. Exceptions include travelers needing an I-94 form, those who owe duties on imported goods, and other specific situations.–PR by CBP Youssef Fawaz
