EU commissioners issued an urgent call on Monday for member states to swiftly deliver critical medical aid to Lebanon, as the country’s healthcare system struggles to cope with a growing crisis. Stella Kyriakides, EU Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, along with Janez Lenarcic, Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management, stressed the immediate need for support following Lebanon’s request for aid from the European Union.
“Lebanon is in immediate need of vital medical equipment, and we count on Team Europe to deliver,” Kyriakides said on social media platform X. In a joint letter to health and civil protection ministers, the commissioners warned that Lebanon’s healthcare system is overwhelmed and unable to provide necessary specialized treatments.
The EU is calling for coordinated action from member states, urging them to respond urgently to Lebanon’s plea for help as the situation reaches critical levels.–News Desk
