The armed wing of Hamas, Al-Qassam Brigades, declared on Wednesday that the assassination of the group’s political bureau chief, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran, Iran, marks a “landmark and dangerous event” with significant regional implications. In a statement, the group referred to Haniyeh’s killing as a “criminal assassination” and warned that it would lead to a shift in the conflict’s dynamics, with potentially far-reaching consequences for the entire region.
Al-Qassam Brigades accused Israel of miscalculating by expanding its aggressive actions and targeting resistance leaders in various locations, as well as violating the sovereignty of regional countries. The statement called for increased support for the Palestinian resistance in response to continued Israeli actions.
Hamas announced early Wednesday that Haniyeh was killed in an Israeli airstrike on his residence in Tehran. As of now, Israel has not made an official statement regarding the assassination. The incident has escalated tensions and raised concerns about the potential for broader conflict in the region.–News Desk
