Houthi Rebels Claim Ballistic Missile Strike on Israel

The Houthi rebels in Yemen claimed responsibility for a ballistic missile attack on Israel, targeting the Tel Aviv area. The missile, launched on Wednesday, was intercepted by Israeli defense forces before it could enter the country, according to the Israeli military. The Houthis announced they had successfully hit a military target in Tel Aviv with a hypersonic ballistic missile, Palestine 2, calling the operation a success.

This missile strike is part of the Houthis’ ongoing campaign in solidarity with Palestinians amid the prolonged Gaza conflict. Although most of their missile attacks have been intercepted, a previous strike on Saturday did manage to hit Tel Aviv, injuring 16 people. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned of retaliatory action, vowing to respond with force and precision.

Despite the recent attack, Israel’s emergency services reported no casualties, and the missile was shot down before it could reach Israeli territory. In addition, earlier this week, Israel intercepted another projectile fired from Yemen. This escalation follows previous Houthi attacks on Israeli soil, including a deadly drone strike in July that resulted in the death of an Israeli civilian.
