Humanitarian Aid Begins Arriving in Gaza via Temporary Pier

On May 17, 2024, trucks carrying humanitarian assistance began moving ashore via a temporary pier in Gaza. A driver contracted by the Department of Defense transported aid from the United Arab Emirates directly from ships to distribution centers in Gaza. This operation, requested by the United States Agency for International Development, utilizes the Joint Logistics Over-the-Shore (JLOTS) capability to facilitate the delivery of international humanitarian aid to the citizens of Gaza through the Humanitarian Maritime Corridor.

The temporary pier, known as JLOTS, is playing a crucial role in ensuring that humanitarian supplies reach those in need efficiently and effectively. (U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist 1st Class Kelby Sanders)
