Indian Student Killed Near Chicago

An Indian student, Sai Teja Nukarapu, was tragically shot and killed at a gas station near Chicago on Saturday morning. The incident occurred while the Telangana native, who was pursuing an MBA at Concordia University, was working a part-time job. According to reports, two armed assailants robbed the gas station and shot Nukarapu, even though he did not resist. At the time, he had stayed on after his shift to assist a friend, while his colleague had stepped out for some time.

Nukarapu’s body is expected to be sent back to his hometown in Khammam by next week. The Telangana government and the Telugu Association of North America are working to support the family in the aftermath of the tragedy.

This incident adds to a rising number of violent deaths among Indian students in the US, with 108 Indian students having died in the country over the past five years. In recent months, there have been numerous reports of Indian students falling victim to violent crimes, including shootings.
