Indonesian President urges Cabinet collaboration.

ISTANBUL

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto held his inaugural Cabinet meeting on Friday, encouraging his 109-member team to collaborate effectively.

Clad in military attire, Prabowo presided over the “Red and White Cabinet” at the Magelang Military Academy in Central Java.

At 73, Prabowo was inaugurated last weekend after winning the presidential election in February, succeeding Joko Widodo, who completed his two five-year terms on October 20.

With the appointment of 109 ministers, deputy ministers, and agency heads, Prabowo has established the largest Cabinet since 1966.

During the retreat, Cabinet members will formulate the administration’s policies, including the child meal program emphasized in Prabowo’s campaign.

To ensure security, over 4,100 combat personnel were stationed around the academy for the meeting.

Leading the largest economy in Southeast Asia, Prabowo stated that training at the academy would help Cabinet members “work in sync,” according to the Jakarta Globe.

He stressed the importance of teamwork, noting that “the government must not operate in silos.”

Prabowo highlighted the need for the “Red and White Cabinet” to recognize that they are also competing on an international stage.

Throughout the three-day retreat, which concludes on Sunday, discussions will focus on anti-corruption measures.
