Iran proposes five nation-bloc to deal with regional issues

Islamabad, Pakistan: Iranian diplomat has planned a new group of five countries—Iran, Turkey, Pakistan, China, and Russia to advance cooperation and solve issues in the region.
Seyyed Mohammad Ali Hosseini, Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan said “Countries like Iran, Pakistan, Turkey, Russia, and China have the potential to form a new alliance for better future of the region”, while addressing Islamabad strategic studies institute on Tuesday.
To boost up cooperation in the region, an intergovernmental organization comprising Iran, Pakistan and Turkey can play a major role, said Hosseini, economic cooperation organization.
He added, “ECO provides an appropriate opportunity for Iran-Pakistan to coordinate their policies in line with economic growth and render necessary ground to facilitate economic activities and encourage investment and trade and remove transit hurdles between the two countries”.
The Iranian ambassador declared that Pakistan holds a special status in Iran’s foreign policy owing to its location as neighboring Islamic country.
He stated “Iran and Pakistan have participated in most of OIC [Organization of Islamic Cooperation] conferences. Unfortunately, due to the role of some countries, this organization has not been effective in addressing issues of the Islamic Ummah and taking positions in the support of Islamic cause”.
Hosseini requested to enhance cooperation between developing Islamic countries to establish a common Islamic market.
He said “D-8 Group of the developing Islamic countries; i.e. Indonesia, Iran, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Turkey, Malaysia, Egypt, and Nigeria, is a regional forum for boosting of strong economic ties among the developing Islamic countries”.
The diplomat declared that Pakistani Gwadar port and Iran’s Chabahar port complement each other.
Hosseini concluded “Establishment of rail network between Gwadar and Chabahar and its link up to Europe and Central Asia through Iran, will usher major economic development in the region. On the other hand, construction of Railway track on Pakistani territory to China, linking the two ports will lead towards economic development in this region”.
