Japan, Saudi Arabia Strengthen Ties

Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman have committed to strengthening their nations’ strategic partnership as they approach the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2025.

In a phone conversation on Tuesday, they focused on energy markets and regional stability, particularly amid the ongoing tensions in the Middle East. Ishiba highlighted Saudi Arabia’s crucial role in stabilizing global oil markets and expressed interest in expanding cooperation in emerging sectors. He also praised the kingdom’s diplomatic efforts in Gaza.

Bin Salman, who also serves as Saudi Arabia’s prime minister, emphasized the importance of the relationship with Japan and expressed a desire to expand cooperation in political, economic, and security areas. Both leaders expressed concerns over conflicts in the Middle East, particularly Gaza, and agreed to continue collaborating for regional stability.
