Jordan’s Mansion Sells for $9.6M, Slashed from $29M

Michael Jordan’s iconic Chicago mansion has finally sold after sitting on the market for 12 years. Originally listed for $29 million, the property has been sold for a significantly lower price of $9.6 million, representing a dramatic reduction of nearly two-thirds from its original asking price.

Located in the upscale Highland Park neighborhood, the mansion is a sprawling 56,000 square feet, featuring 9 bedrooms, 19 bathrooms, and an indoor basketball court — a nod to the basketball legend’s illustrious career. The estate, often referred to as “The House That Air Built,” also boasts luxury amenities such as a pool, tennis court, and a cigar room. Despite its grandeur, the mansion failed to attract a buyer for over a decade, even with multiple price cuts throughout the years.

The home first hit the market in 2012, but it struggled to find a buyer due to its unique design and hefty price tag. Over the years, the asking price was reduced several times, ultimately dropping to $14.8 million before the final sale.

Jordan, who played for the Chicago Bulls during his career, purchased the mansion in 1991 for $2.8 million. After years of attempts to sell the property, this significant price drop marks a new chapter for the basketball legend’s real estate portfolio.

Though the mansion has finally been sold, the deal serves as a reminder of how even the most lavish properties can struggle to find buyers in a changing real estate market.
