
Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati thanked Türkiye for its unwavering support during Lebanon’s ongoing struggles amidst Israeli attacks. Speaking alongside Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara, Mikati praised the long-standing relationship between the two nations, especially in humanitarian and political matters.
Mikati acknowledged Lebanon’s profound challenges, as the economy, society, and environment have been ravaged by continued hostilities despite a ceasefire agreement. He emphasized the crucial role Türkiye and other Arab nations have played in offering solidarity, which has been vital for Lebanon during this difficult period.
“The solidarity you have shown, especially in these difficult times, means a great deal to us,” Mikati said, expressing deep gratitude for Türkiye’s support. He also pointed to the broader regional issues, including the political shifts in Syria, underscoring the importance of international pressure on Israel to respect the ceasefire.
Amid these tumultuous times, Mikati reaffirmed Lebanon’s commitment to Syria’s sovereignty and called for strengthened relations between Lebanon, Türkiye, and Syria. With optimism, he stated that cooperation between the nations would pave the way for peace and mutual respect.
Mikati concluded with heartfelt thanks to Türkiye for being a steadfast ally in Lebanon’s darkest hours, acknowledging that Lebanon has learned to lean on its friends, especially Türkiye, for strength and resilience.
