Sarfaraz Ahmed Addresses Retirement Speculations

Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has addressed rumors about his retirement from international cricket, clarifying that he remains committed to the sport and will make any retirement decision personally.

The 37-year-old wicketkeeper-batter, a significant figure in Pakistan cricket, responded to speculation that arose after a recent statement he made. While interacting with the media during the Champions T20 Cup, Sarfaraz had vaguely mentioned, “I know what you are waiting for, and it will happen soon,” fueling rumors of his retirement.

In his clarification, Sarfaraz emphasized that he is still active in cricket and open to any opportunities to represent Pakistan again. “I’m still playing cricket and will take whatever chance comes my way,” he said. He also stressed that his retirement would be his personal choice, adding, “When I feel it’s time to retire, I will do so.”

Having made his international debut in 2007, Sarfaraz is one of Pakistan’s cricketing legends, with over 6,000 career runs across formats. He led Pakistan to victory in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy, and his tenure saw an unprecedented 11 consecutive T20I series wins.

Despite being absent from the national team for a while, Sarfaraz continues to stay involved in cricket, currently mentoring the Dolphins in the Champions T20 Cup. While not actively playing for Pakistan, Sarfaraz remains open to a return when needed. The former captain has made it clear that any retirement decision will be entirely up to him.
