Jeddah: The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud chaired a Cabinet session at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah on Tuesday, May 22nd, 2019 to discuss the latest regional and international developments.
The Cabinet affirmed that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ call to the leaders of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Arab countries to hold two GCC and Arab emergency summits in Makkah on May 30th, 2019 reflects His Majesty’s keenness to consult and coordinate with brotherly nations on maintaining security and stability in the region, particularly following actions taken by the Iranian regime and its aggressive proxies, and their grave impact on regional and international peace and security, as well as on the stability of the global oil market.
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency following the session, Minister of Media H.E. Turki bin Abdullah Al-Shabanah reiterated that the Kingdom seeks peace in the region, and does not seek any other goal, and will do everything in its power to prevent war. Additionally, the Kingdom’s hand is always extended for peace, and seeks to achieve it, and believes that the people of the region, including the Iranian people, have the right to live in security and stability, and to move towards achieving development.
The Cabinet called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities by taking a firm stance against the Iranian regime to stop its behavior, and prevent it from spreading destruction and chaos throughout the world, and push the Iranian regime’s proxies away from recklessness and senseless behaviors in order to avoid further risks in a critical region, and prevent undesirable consequences.
The Cabinet hoped that the 14th Session of the Islamic Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), to be chaired by King Salman on May 31, under the theme of “Makkah Summit: Hand in Hand towards the Future”, would take a unified stance towards various issues and the ongoing developments in the Islamic world.–PR
