Spanish stage performer gang-raped in India

Just days after a Spanish biker faced a similar ordeal in Jharkhand, authorities report another harrowing incident in the state’s Palamu district where a 21-year-old stage performer was gang-raped. Recently, a foreign couple alleged that the woman biker was assaulted by seven men in Dumka.

According to news agency PTI, the performer was allegedly assaulted by three fellow artists in a car after being given an intoxicating substance. All three perpetrators were from Palamu.

The incident occurred approximately 200 km from Ranchi, on a road in Vishrampur. The report stated that the young woman lost consciousness, allowing the accused to flee the scene. She has been hospitalized, and two of the suspects have been apprehended.

Originally in Chhattisgarh for a function at Vishrampur, the artist, along with her male colleagues, headed to Hussainabad for another event. “Due to some reasons, that program was not organized. So, she left for another function in Hussainabad with her male co-artists,” Vishrampur Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Rakesh Singh stated in the PTI report.

Just last week, a Spanish tourist, touring on a bike with her husband, was reportedly assaulted in the Hansdiha area in Dumka. They had traveled to Jharkhand from Bangladesh and were en route to Nepal via Bihar.

In a distressing video message, the woman, her face showing visible bruises, recounted their ordeal, “Something has happened to us that we would not wish on anyone. Seven men have assaulted me.” She continued, “They have beaten us and robbed us. Although not many things because what they wanted was to assault me.”

Her 64-year-old husband was also subjected to violence. The video garnered widespread attention on social media, prompting support for the couple from various quarters.

Authorities have arrested three suspects, with a manhunt underway for the others involved. Additionally, a special investigation team has been formed to delve into the incident.– Web Desk
