A terrorist assault targeted Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) facilities in Ankara, the nation’s capital, according to a top official’s statement on Wednesday.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya confirmed the attack on X, reporting casualties. He urged the public to rely on official statements for updates.
Türkiye’s Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacir emphasized that the country remains unwavering in its commitment to the defense industry and the “National Technology Initiative.”
“Our defense sector and technology drive are vital to Türkiye’s full independence,” Kacir asserted.
Justice Minister condemned the incident, noting that an investigation has been initiated by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, with one chief prosecutor and eight public prosecutors assigned to the case.
The Center for Combating Disinformation also cautioned the public on X to heed official sources and disregard “baseless” claims.
Witnesses reported explosions and gunfire from TAI’s facilities in the Kahramankazan district of Ankara. Emergency responders, including security personnel, firefighters, and paramedics, were swiftly deployed to the site.
TAI staff were reportedly moved to shelters as a safety measure.
Deputy Parliament Speaker Celal Adan strongly denounced the attack, declaring, “This cowardly act of terrorism will not deter us. Those responsible will pay in kind for the blood they have spilled.”
The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has launched a thorough investigation into the attack, with security forces and emergency teams still on the scene.
