U.S., Serbia hold defense talks in Pentagon

On March 7, 2024, the Pentagon hosted the U.S.-Serbia Bilateral Defense Consultations (BDC), co-chaired by Ms. Lisa Sawyer, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for European and NATO Policy, and Mr. Nemanja Starović, State Secretary of the Serbian Ministry of Defense. The discussions, which included high-level military officials from both countries, focused on strengthening bilateral security cooperation through various initiatives such as exercises, training, and military engagements. Additionally, the meeting covered technical cooperation, Serbia’s contributions to global security, and the nation’s ongoing partnership with the Ohio National Guard. Serbian representatives also provided updates on their troops’ participation in international missions and proposed ideas for regional cooperation in the Western Balkans. The United States emphasized the significance of dialogue facilitated by the EU as a means to secure a stable and peaceful Western Balkans.–Web Desk
