Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced on Tuesday that the heating season has officially started nationwide, with the Kherson region as the only exception due to relatively warm weather conditions.
During a government meeting, Shmyhal noted that communities and regions are fully prepared for winter, with 83% of boiler houses currently operational. He highlighted that heating is being provided to 70% of residential buildings and over 80% of schools, hospitals, and kindergartens across the country.
Shmyhal emphasized that relevant ministries and agencies are actively monitoring the heating situation. He assured that Ukraine has sufficient domestic energy resources for the winter, marking the second consecutive heating season relying solely on Ukrainian gas.
Acknowledging the challenges of the upcoming winter, the prime minister urged citizens to adopt energy resilience measures, including the installation of alternative energy sources like solar panels, wind turbines, and energy storage systems.
