Washington DC: Secretary Pompeo met with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on April 30th and reiterated the close relationship and strategic partnership between the United States and Jordan. During their meeting, the leaders recommitted to working together to support bilateral ties between the United States and Jordan and to make progress on key regional issues, including the administration’s dedication to achieving Middle East peace and efforts to de-escalate the violence and support a political process to bring the conflict in Syria to an end. In this regard, the Secretary and Foreign Minister agreed on the urgent need to confront Iran’s destabilizing presence and malign behaviors in Syria and the region.
