Aneesah Morrow Returns to Chicago to Face UIC

Aneesah Morrow, a powerhouse on the boards and the nation’s top rebounder, is returning to her roots in Chicago this week as No. 5 LSU takes on UIC. The senior forward, who averages an impressive 14.1 rebounds per game, credits much of her relentless playing style to her mother, Nafeesah, a former standout at Nebraska. “She was my role model and mentor, always beating me in one-on-ones and 3-point contests,” Morrow shared, reflecting on the strong influence her mother had on her career.

Morrow’s rebounding prowess has propelled her into the NCAA Division I career Top 25, with 1,412 rebounds to date. Her tenacity on the court and ability to adapt to any situation—whether securing a rebound, stealing the ball, or making a defensive play—has been key to her success. Her former coach at Seton Hall, Tony Bozzella, notes her “second-to-none” motor, consistently hunting for rebounds with unmatched effort.

LSU head coach Kim Mulkey praises Morrow’s work ethic, calling her a “walking double-double” who never tires and dominates both ends of the court with her versatile skills. As Morrow heads home to Chicago, over 40 of her family members will be cheering her on, along with former teammates and high school fans. She also plans to visit her alma mater, Simeon Career Academy, to reflect on her high school triumphs and inspire the next generation of players.

For Morrow, this homecoming is not just a game—it’s a celebration of where it all began.
