Austria: 8 UN peacekeepers injured in Israeli attack

Eight Austrian UN peacekeepers in Lebanon were injured Tuesday in an Israeli rocket attack, according to Austria’s Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg. Expressing outrage on X, Schallenberg condemned the assault on UNIFIL troops, calling it “a grave violation of international law.” UNIFIL, operating under UN Resolution 1701, is stationed between Lebanon’s Litani River and the Blue Line along Israel’s border to maintain regional security. The attack follows intensified Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon targeting Hezbollah amid ongoing conflict.
