Authorities are investigating the discovery of a body found in the wheel well of a plane that arrived in Maui from Chicago. United Airlines confirmed the grim find aboard Flight 202, which had departed from O’Hare Airport at 9:30 a.m. on December 24, landing in Maui at 2:12 p.m. local time.
The body was located in the wheel well, specifically near the main landing gears, which are only accessible from outside the aircraft. United Airlines has not determined how or when the individual accessed the wheel well.
The airline is cooperating with law enforcement as the investigation continues.
