Canadian Olympic Backer B2ten Expands Focus to Children’s Active Play
Montreal — B2ten, a Montreal-based organization best known for quietly supporting Canada’s Olympic athletes, is shifting part of its focus toward early childhood physical activity.
For years, the privately funded group has played a key role behind the scenes, helping elite Canadian athletes achieve success on the Olympic stage. Now, however, the organization is turning its attention to a much younger audience.
National Program Targets Child-Care Centres
Through its education-focused initiative Active for Life, B2ten has launched a nationwide program designed to help educators integrate daily active play into child-care routines.
Over the next five years, the organization aims to reach more than 5,000 child-care centres across Canada. The program provides practical tools and guidance to encourage movement and physical engagement throughout the day.
Addressing a Growing Health Concern
B2ten President JD Miller said the initiative responds to rising concerns about sedentary behaviour among children. He noted that reduced physical activity has become a growing public health challenge, particularly in early childhood.
By promoting regular movement in child-care settings, the program seeks to build healthy habits early and support long-term physical development.
