The US centers for disease control and prevention warned American citizens to get ready for the spread of coronavirus in the US after the spread of the flu-like virus in most of the countries.
With the announcement, change of tone is obvious, as the US health agency appears to be warning the citizens ahead of efforts to curb the coronavirus and putting the individuals traveling from china on quarantine.
The director for CDCs national center for immunization and respiratory diseases, Dr. Nancy Messonier said “The data over the past week about the spread in other countries has raised our level of concern and expectation that we are going to have community spread here” while addressing the news conference.
She said, “What is not known, she said, is when it will arrive and how severe a US outbreak might be”. She raised concern that the “Disruption to everyday life might be severe”.
Businesses, families, and schools should start taking into account how they will manage their lives if the coronavirus spikes the US communities.
Alex Azar, the health and human services secretary of USA told the senate subcommittee that the extent of the virus would be greater in the US, and he urged the representatives to allow 2.5 billion dollars funding to combat the epidemic with the proposal of cutting down department’s budget.
“While the immediate risk to individual members of the American public remains low, there is now community transmission in several countries, including outside of Asia, which is deeply concerning”, Azar said while referring to the spread of the virus in Italy and Iran as shocking for the US.
The US stock market crashed owing to the fear of coronavirus.
Azar assured that the administration is collaborating with private and local sectors to formulate a mitigation strategy to curb the potential spread of the coronavirus.
The US senator Chuck Schumer, nonetheless, claimed that the Trump administration lacks a comprehensive plan to deal with the spread of coronavirus, and had been caught “flat-footed”. He asserted a minimum of 3.1 billion dollars is required to fight the virus.
Schumer maintained “The Trump administration has shown towering and dangerous incompetence when it comes to the coronavirus”. He called for immediate efforts to mitigate the risk of virus saying “Mr. President, you need to get your act together now. This is a crisis”.–Worldwide News
