ISLAMABAD: The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has brought significant benefits to Pakistan, including a total investment of $25.4 billion, the creation of 236,000 jobs, the construction of 510 kilometers of highways, over 8,000 megawatts of electricity, and 886 kilometers of core transmission lines.
This was announced by Chinese Ambassador Jiang Ziadong during a ceremony at the Chinese Embassy on Friday. Ambassador Ziadong, along with Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, presented awards to staff members for their outstanding contributions to the success of the CPEC initiative.
The Chinese ambassador highlighted that CPEC has played a crucial role in advancing Pakistan’s economic growth, social development, and regional integration. He emphasized that the corridor has proven to be an indispensable factor in reshaping the nation’s future.
Minister Ahsan Iqbal, in his address, underscored the importance of recognizing the efforts of those working on CPEC projects, noting that their dedication has been integral to the initiative’s achievements. He also stressed that CPEC represents the enduring friendship between Pakistan and China, serving as a symbol of the nations’ close economic and strategic ties.
The ceremony celebrated the hard work and cooperation that has driven CPEC’s success, with Minister Iqbal acknowledging contributions across various sectors, including infrastructure, energy, logistics, and technology. This collaborative spirit has paved the way for lasting prosperity and strengthened bilateral relations between the two countries.
