Netanyahu Postpones Azerbaijan Trip Amid Rising Tensions in Gaza and Syria
JERUSALEM – Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has postponed his planned visit to Azerbaijan, originally scheduled for early May, due to escalating security and diplomatic developments in Gaza and Syria.
In a formal announcement on Saturday, May 3, 2025, the Prime Minister’s Office cited an increasingly demanding diplomatic and security agenda as the reason for the delay. The statement noted that the visit will be rescheduled for a later date once the regional situation stabilizes.
Prime Minister Netanyahu extended his gratitude to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for the official invitation and reaffirmed the strength of the bilateral relationship. “The Prime Minister greatly appreciates the close ties between Israel and Azerbaijan and looks forward to continuing this valuable partnership,” the statement added.
This decision comes amid a period of heightened tension in the region, requiring Netanyahu’s focused presence and leadership at home.
