JERUSALEM – In a significant diplomatic engagement, Israeli President Isaac Herzog met with President Daniel Noboa of Ecuador on Sunday during Noboa’s first official visit to Israel. The visit marks the opening of Ecuador’s new Innovation Research and Development Center in Jerusalem.
President Herzog extended a warm welcome to President Noboa, congratulating him on his recent electoral victory. Herzog emphasized the enduring friendship between Israel and Ecuador and expressed confidence that ties will deepen, especially in security and technological collaboration. “Our countries face serious security challenges—internal for Ecuador and external for Israel—and cooperation in this area is vital,” Herzog said.
Herzog also praised Ecuador’s decision to open a diplomatic representative office in Jerusalem, calling it a “bold and significant step forward” in strengthening bilateral relations.
The Israeli President highlighted the ongoing humanitarian concern regarding Israeli hostages, stating, “Bringing them home is a moral imperative. This tragedy is a blatant violation of human rights and hinders regional progress toward peace.”
President Noboa expressed gratitude for the warm reception and reaffirmed Ecuador’s commitment to peace and solidarity with Israel in the global fight against terrorism. “We value Israel’s expertise in defense and technology and look forward to building strong partnerships for peace and security in our region,” Noboa stated.
He strongly supported Herzog’s call for the release of the hostages, noting, “This kind of suffering has no place in the 21st century. We stand with you in your pursuit of justice and humanity.”
The leaders concluded the meeting by committing to stronger ties in innovation, defense, and international diplomacy.
