France, Egypt, Jordan Call for Palestinian Authority to Lead Post-War Gaza

Macron Rejects Hamas Role in Gaza, Backs Arab League’s Reconstruction Plan

CAIRO – The leaders of France, Egypt, and Jordan have jointly stated that the Palestinian Authority (PA) should govern Gaza following the end of the ongoing conflict. French President Emmanuel Macron, during a visit to Cairo, emphasized that Hamas must be excluded from any future administrative or security role in the Gaza Strip.

In a meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Jordan’s King Abdullah II, Macron underscored the need for “a strengthened Palestinian Authority” to assume full responsibility for governance, law and order, and security not only in Gaza but across all Palestinian territories.

The joint statement comes amid international deliberations over who should oversee Gaza after the war with Israel concludes—a key factor in achieving a long-term ceasefire. Macron also voiced his opposition to the displacement of Palestinians and supported a Gaza reconstruction initiative backed by the Arab League. This plan aims to rebuild the war-torn region and establish a viable administrative framework for Palestinian self-rule.

Macron praised Egypt’s efforts in developing the plan, calling it a “realistic path” toward both reconstruction and sustainable governance in Gaza.
