India Launches Civil Defence Drills Along Pakistan Border Amid Post-Ceasefire Tensions
India is set to carry out large-scale civil defence mock drills today (Thursday) in regions bordering Pakistan, just weeks after a ceasefire was reached following heightened military tensions.
The exercises are being conducted under the supervision of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Indian media reports confirm that the drills will take place in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, and Gujarat.
Authorities aim to assess preparedness for emergency scenarios in these sensitive border regions. The timing of the drills has drawn international attention, as they follow closely on the heels of recent cross-border hostilities that led to a temporary ceasefire agreement.
Security officials emphasize that these exercises are part of routine civil defence planning, though they take on greater significance given the current geopolitical climate.
