India’s Airstrikes Kill 26 in Pakistan; Mosques, Civilians Targeted

Cross-Border Tensions Surge as India Hits Dams, Mosques in Pakistan

26 Killed in Indian Airstrikes on Pakistan, Military Vows Measured Response

Pakistan’s military confirmed that 26 civilians were killed and 46 injured in a wave of Indian airstrikes that struck homes, mosques, and public areas. The strikes occurred at six locations across the country, including Bahawalpur, Muzaffarabad, and Kotli, with casualties including children and women.

Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry accused India of deliberate targeting of religious sites, calling it a manifestation of extremist Hindutva ideology.

In response, Pakistan shot down five Indian jets—including Rafale and MiG-29 models—and a combat drone. All aircraft were intercepted after attacks were launched, and Pakistan avoided entering Indian airspace.

India also targeted the Nauseri Dam, part of a key hydroelectric project, a move termed a dangerous provocation by Pakistan. The strikes endangered 57 civilian aircraft in transit, the military noted.

Pakistan reaffirmed its right to respond to aggression defensively and responsibly, while upholding its territorial sovereignty.
