Iran has firmly denied recent claims by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) regarding its nuclear activities, reiterating its commitment to a peaceful nuclear program. Officials in Tehran described the accusations as baseless and politically motivated, aimed at undermining Iran’s progress in science and technology.
A government spokesperson stated, “Iran’s nuclear program remains strictly for peaceful purposes, including energy production and medical research. We have consistently cooperated with international regulations and inspections to ensure transparency.”
The remarks follow statements from the global nuclear watchdog suggesting a dramatic increase in Iran’s uranium enrichment activities. While the IAEA voiced concerns over the potential for weapons-grade enrichment, Iranian authorities dismissed the claims as speculative and emphasized that the country’s nuclear ambitions are aligned with the 2015 agreement, which allowed limited enrichment in exchange for lifting sanctions.
Tehran also criticized what it called a double standard in the global community’s handling of nuclear programs, urging fairness and impartiality. “Selective treatment only undermines international trust and cooperation,” an Iranian official added.
The developments come amidst heightened tensions in the region, with global powers expressing concern over the potential for escalation. Diplomatic efforts to revive negotiations on the nuclear agreement have faced repeated hurdles, leaving uncertainty over the future of Iran’s nuclear activities.
Observers are urging renewed dialogue to address the impasse, emphasizing the importance of diplomacy in preventing further regional instability. Iran, however, maintains that it will not compromise its sovereign rights to peaceful nuclear development.
