Iran May Suspend Uranium Enrichment for One Year, Sources Say
TEHRAN —
Iran is considering a one-year suspension of its uranium enrichment program as part of potential diplomatic efforts, according to sources familiar with ongoing discussions.
Reuters reported that the proposed plan would see Tehran halt enrichment activities for 12 months in exchange for limited sanctions relief or other concessions from Western nations. While no formal agreement has been reached, the move could signal a shift in Iran’s nuclear stance and help ease tensions with global powers.
The possible pause is part of broader efforts to revive dialogue surrounding the 2015 nuclear deal, which has faced setbacks since the U.S. withdrew from the agreement in 2018.
