Worldwide News: On Monday, Iran’s head of the judiciary said that around 54,000 prisoners were temporarily released from jails by Iranian authorities in a bid to combat the lethal coronavirus that in Iran has caused at least 77 people’s lives in less than two weeks.
The country’s ministry of health reported 43 new deaths and 595 new infections of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours which makes a number of infected people 7,161 and death toll 237 since February.
On Monday, Iran’s chief justice Ebrahim Raisian without elaborating on when the released detainees would have to return to prison, announced the temporary release of prisoners and said that the decision would be carried out “to the point where it doesn’t create insecurity in society.”
