BISHKEK, KYRGYZSTAN
Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov announced on Tuesday a major upgrade in his country’s relationship with Türkiye, elevating it to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
During a joint press conference in Bishkek with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Japarov stated, “I am delighted to share that we have taken a significant step in enhancing our strategic partnership with the Republic of Türkiye to a comprehensive level.”
He expressed Kyrgyzstan’s deep appreciation for the outcomes of the sixth Türkiye-Kyrgyzstan High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council meeting, where discussions covered a range of issues, including trade, education, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, and defense.
Highlighting advancements in education, Japarov revealed that both nations agreed to expand the Turkish Maarif Foundation’s network across all regions of Kyrgyzstan. He also expressed gratitude to Erdogan for Türkiye’s decision to cancel Kyrgyzstan’s debt, adding that his government is committed to creating a favorable environment for both local and international investors.
Japarov further mentioned ongoing health cooperation with Türkiye, noting plans to explore additional projects for establishing medical facilities in Kyrgyzstan.
Following the council meeting, a series of bilateral agreements were signed, encompassing vital sectors such as health, energy, economy, finance, agriculture, digital technology, security, and culture.
