
GARY, IND. – The Lake County Recorder’s Office, in collaboration with the City of Gary, is pleased to announce the inauguration of its first satellite office at Gary’s City Hall, situated in the Community Development Office, room 300. This new office aims to streamline the processing of essential paperwork for contractors operating in Gary.
This satellite office will provide specialized services for recording documents such as Bonds, Certificates of Insurance, Continuation Certificates, Riders, and other documents related to contractor bonds, including stipulations or amendments. It is important to note that services are limited to work performed exclusively within the City of Gary. The office will be open on Mondays from June 3, 2024, through December 23, 2024, from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm CT.
“Gary is experiencing significant growth. Developers are investing in new housing, and residents are renovating their homes to comply with city standards. This collaboration with the Lake County Recorder’s Office marks a significant improvement for our community, simplifying the process for initiating construction and renovation projects. This partnership demonstrates the benefits of working together to enhance and support the rebuilding of our city,” stated Mayor Eddie Melton.
Lake County Recorder Gina Pimentel expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “We are thrilled to establish the first satellite office in Gary. This will greatly benefit contractors working here, eliminating the need for long trips to handle necessary paperwork. Establishing this office in Gary’s City Hall is a step toward greater convenience for everyone involved.”
The satellite office will adhere to the same protocols as the main office in Crown Point. All documents must pertain to Lake County, Indiana, and include a specified date, bond range, stated consideration, and proper notarization. Please note that notary services are not available on-site, and all documents must meet the necessary requirements before recording.
The fee for recording is $25 per document, regardless of page length. Payments can be made via business checks or credit cards (excluding American Express). Copies of recorded documents are available at a rate of $1 per page.–News Release by Erika Vanhala Blackwell
