Netanyahu Denies Iran Talks with Waltz Following U.S. Media Report

Israeli PM's Office Clarifies Nature of Contact with Mike Waltz

JERUSALEM – The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office issued a clarification on Saturday, May 3, 2025, dismissing claims published by the Washington Post regarding alleged intensive discussions between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. official Mike Waltz about Iran.

According to the statement, Prime Minister Netanyahu did meet with Waltz and businessman Steve Witkoff at Blair House in February, during his official visit to Washington ahead of his meeting with then-President Donald Trump. Additionally, Waltz was present in a subsequent meeting alongside U.S. Vice President JD Vance.

However, the Prime Minister’s Office emphasized that no in-depth contact or discussions regarding Iran have taken place between Netanyahu and Waltz since then. The only follow-up communication—a single phone call involving Netanyahu, Witkoff, and the former Israeli National Security Advisor—did not touch on Iranian affairs.

The statement also extended congratulations to Mike Waltz on his recent appointment to a key role at the United Nations, underscoring Israel’s appreciation for continued diplomatic cooperation.

This clarification comes amid heightened scrutiny over international discussions related to Iran’s nuclear program and regional influence.
