PM Trudeau conveys condolences to New Zealand

PARIS: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met today with Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern of New Zealand.
The Prime Minister reiterated, on behalf of all Canadians, his condolences for those killed and injured in the senseless terrorist attack in Christchurch. The prime ministers welcomed the adoption of the Christchurch Call to Action and stressed the need for continued engagement between governments and online platforms to take concrete actions to implement the Call.
The two leaders had an exchange on their shared priority of progressive trade, including new opportunities created by the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership. They agreed on the importance of ongoing work to reform the World Trade Organization to strengthen the rules-based, multilateral trading system.
The prime ministers also discussed measures to improve the well-being of citizens, address child poverty and strengthen economic futures.
