Israeli President Isaac Herzog spoke via video call with Auburn Tigers basketball coach Bruce Pearl, commending him for his outspoken advocacy on behalf of hostages held in Gaza. Pearl has used his platform to highlight the plight of captives, including Edan Alexander, a U.S.-Israeli citizen still in captivity.
Herzog praised Pearl for bringing global attention to the crisis, calling it “the most important issue for humanity.” Pearl reaffirmed American support for Israel and announced that Adi Alexander, Edan’s father, would attend Auburn’s next game as a guest of Athletes for Israel to further raise awareness.
Herzog stressed the urgency of securing the return of all 59 remaining hostages, while Pearl vowed to continue advocating for their release. Herzog called Pearl’s efforts an example of “moral clarity” and a reflection of shared values.
