“It was great to have dinner with Governor Justin Trudeau of the Great State of Canada,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. “Looking forward to our next meeting to continue our discussions on tariffs and trade. The outcomes will be spectacular for all!”
The comment comes amid reports that Trump suggested incorporating Canada as the 51st U.S. state during recent talks with Trudeau in Florida. These discussions reportedly followed Trump’s threats to impose steep trade tariffs once he assumes office in January.
