Worldwide semiconductor trade will decline by 2025

ISTANBUL

Global growth in semiconductor sales is expected to slow in 2025, according to research firm Gartner, which reported this on Monday.

Gartner forecasts an 18.8% increase in semiconductor sales for 2024, reaching $629.8 billion, followed by a 13.8% rise in 2025 to $716.7 billion.

In 2023, chip sales dropped 11.7% year-over-year to $530 billion.

Rajeev Rajput, a senior principal analyst at Gartner, attributed the current upswing to artificial intelligence, stating, “The growth is fueled by sustained demand for AI-related semiconductors and a rebound in electronics production.”

He also noted that demand from the automotive and industrial sectors remains weak.
