14-Year-Old Girl Killed in Lion Attack Near Nairobi National Park

Tragic Incident Highlights Rising Human-Wildlife Conflict in Kenya’s Park Border Zones

A 14-year-old girl was tragically mauled to death by a lion on a ranch located south of Nairobi National Park, the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) confirmed in a statement released Sunday.

The fatal encounter occurred on Saturday and was witnessed by another teenager, who immediately raised the alarm. According to KWS, rangers and emergency response teams were swiftly dispatched to the scene.

“Bloodstains were tracked to the Mbagathi River, where the victim’s body was discovered bearing injuries to the lower back,” the KWS statement revealed.

The incident comes amid growing concerns over increasing human-wildlife conflicts in areas surrounding Kenya’s protected wildlife zones. Authorities are now investigating the circumstances and considering enhanced safety measures for communities living near national parks.
