Erdogan to Spotlight Gaza Genocide at UN General Assembly
Erdogan to Speak on Gaza at UN
Turkish president to push for two state solution and action against Israel
ANKARA/ISTANBUL | Sept. 20, 2025 — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will again raise the issue of Gaza at the 80th UN General Assembly on Sept. 23. He is set to call for strong global steps against Israel and press for a two-state solution.
For many years, Erdogan has used the UN stage to speak for Palestine. He calls for an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
He has often blamed Israel for attacks, illegal settlements, and ignoring UN rules. Erdogan says the UN has failed to act. He repeats often: “The world is bigger than five.” This is his call for change in the UN Security Council.
Erdogan says peace will come only through fair treatment of Palestinians. Türkiye has given large aid to Gaza, stopped trade with Israel, and backed the genocide case at the International Court of Justice.
This year, Erdogan is expected to demand tough measures on Israel. He has compared Netanyahu’s rule to a “murderous network.”
Türkiye will keep supporting Palestinian rights. Erdogan says the fight is for justice, peace, and freedom in the Middle East.
