Trump Approves Fort Hood Shooter Execution

US Approves Army Firing Squad Execution

US President Donald Trump has approved the execution of former Army psychiatrist Nidal Malik Hasan by a military firing squad, according to the Pentagon.

Chief Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said Monday that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth recommended the death sentence be carried out and Trump subsequently approved the recommendation.

The Secretary of the Army will decide when and where the execution will take place, Parnell said.

Hasan was sentenced to death by a military jury for the November 2009 shooting at Fort Hood in Texas. He was found guilty of 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder.

The attack occurred at a military processing facility where soldiers were preparing for deployment. It resulted in 13 deaths and left 32 others wounded.
