Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney urged Albertans to remain part of Canada during a “Forever Canadian” rally in Edmonton on Friday evening. His speech marked the second consecutive night of campaigning for national unity ahead of the province’s upcoming referendum.
Carney concluded a two-day visit to Alberta before Monday’s provincial vote. Voters will decide whether to remain within Canada or proceed with a second binding referendum that would initiate the separation process.
Earlier on Friday, Carney and Alberta Premier Danielle Smith attended a pro-unity gathering in Red Deer, where they encouraged residents to work together with the rest of the country. Meanwhile, Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre addressed a conference in Calgary, urging Albertans to maintain their ties with fellow Canadians rather than pursue separation.
