Canada Rejects Role in Iran Conflict, Not Consulted on Strikes
No Involvement in Military Action
Canada was not consulted before the United States and Israel launched strikes on Iran, Foreign Minister Anita Anand confirmed on Tuesday. She made it clear that Canada has no plans to take part in any offensive military operations.
In a brief phone interview ahead of her meeting in Ankara with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Anand emphasized that Canada remains focused on reducing tensions rather than escalating the conflict.
Focus on De-escalation and Civilian Safety
Furthermore, Anand highlighted that Canada’s foreign policy prioritizes peace and humanitarian concerns. She stated that protecting civilians and preventing further escalation remain the country’s main objectives.
“Canada was not consulted, did not participate, and has no intention of joining offensive military actions,” she said. “Our focus is on de-escalation and humanitarian support.”
Diplomatic Efforts in Turkey
Meanwhile, Anand arrived in Turkey to hold discussions on the ongoing crisis. These consultations aim to address the growing instability in the region and explore possible diplomatic solutions.
