Liverpool Rally to Beat Villarreal in Seven Goal Thriller

Liverpool Complete Dramatic Comeback as Foden Hat Trick Inspires Manchester City

Liverpool produced an impressive comeback to defeat Villarreal 4-3 at Anfield on Tuesday, recovering from a two-goal deficit. Meanwhile, Phil Foden scored his first UEFA Champions League hat trick as Manchester City thrashed AEK Athens 5-1 on Matchday 3.

Villarreal made a rapid start in Liverpool, taking the lead in the fourth minute. Georges Mikautadze capitalized on a misjudged header by Virgil van Dijk before beating goalkeeper Alisson Becker.

The visitors extended their advantage in the 29th minute when Nicolas Saliba played a through ball that exposed Liverpool’s defensive weaknesses. Sergi Cardona collected the pass and sent a low shot into the bottom-left corner.

Liverpool responded seven minutes later. Alexis Mac Allister headed the ball into the net from Kostas Tsimikas’ cross following a corner, reducing the deficit.

The hosts completed their first-half comeback during stoppage time. Rio Ngumoha delivered a cross toward the far post, where Ronald Araujo headed home to level the score at 2-2.

Liverpool moved ahead for the first time in the 65th minute. Ngumoha beat Cardona on the right wing before cutting the ball back to Mac Allister, whose first-time effort struck the crossbar and crossed the line.

Three minutes later, Florian Wirtz increased Liverpool’s lead by converting Cody Gakpo’s pass with a low shot that went through Renato Veiga’s legs.

Villarreal continued to fight and reduced the deficit in the 87th minute. Tani Oluwaseyi met Ayoze Perez’s cross at the far post and scored to make it 4-3.

Liverpool nevertheless defended their advantage until the final whistle, completing a remarkable recovery to secure all three points.

Foden Hat Trick Helps Manchester City Defeat AEK Athens

Manchester City delivered a commanding performance at the Etihad Stadium, beating AEK Athens 5-1 with Foden scoring three goals.

City took the lead in the 12th minute through Elliot Anderson, who scored his first goal for the club. Enzo Fernandez’s free kick struck the crossbar, allowing Anderson to collect the rebound and finish into an unguarded net.

Foden doubled the advantage in the 34th minute after combining with Rico Lewis in a move initiated by Rayan Cherki. The England international finished powerfully into the roof of the net.

Manchester City entered halftime with a 2-0 lead, but AEK responded seven minutes into the second half. Stavros Pilios found the net after receiving a through pass from Zine, bringing the Greek side back into the contest.

City restored their two-goal cushion five minutes later when Cherki cut inside near the edge of the penalty area and beat goalkeeper Brignoli with a composed finish.

Foden scored his second goal in the 65th minute, connecting with Lewis’ pass to fire into the top corner after Cherki delivered a diagonal ball.

The midfielder completed his first Champions League hat trick in the 76th minute, converting Ryan McAidoo’s low cross from close range to seal an emphatic 5-1 victory for Manchester City.
