Iran Blames Sanctions as Protests Intensify

Iran Condemns US Remarks as Protests Spread

Iran Rejects US ‘Interference’ as Protests Continue Nationwide

Tehran Responds to Trump’s Remarks

Istanbul — Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Wednesday strongly criticized what it called US interference in the country’s internal affairs, as protests continued in several Iranian cities.

In a statement published on the ministry’s official website, Tehran accused Washington of long-standing hostility toward the Iranian people. It also condemned what it described as misleading policies and deceptive behavior by the United States toward Iran.

Dispute Follows US Warning

The statement followed remarks by US President Donald Trump, who said on Friday that Washington would “come to the rescue” of protesters if Iranian authorities used lethal force. Senior Iranian officials reacted sharply, calling the comments unacceptable and provocative.

Iranian officials argue that such statements encourage unrest rather than promote stability.

Iran Cites Legal Protections for Protests

Referring to provisions in Iran’s constitution, the Foreign Ministry said peaceful demonstrations are legally recognized. It added that authorities are working to address legitimate public concerns through lawful and institutional channels.

At the same time, Tehran blamed US sanctions for much of the country’s economic hardship, stating that restrictive measures have severely harmed livelihoods and financial stability.

Economic Strain Fuels Unrest

According to the statement, Washington’s actions aim to provoke violence by spreading misinformation and conducting what it described as economic and psychological warfare.

Iran has faced widespread protests in recent weeks as inflation rises and the national currency continues to fall. The rial has recently weakened beyond 1,350,000 to the US dollar, intensifying public frustration.

Authorities have also reported isolated incidents of violence involving protesters and police officers.
