Global Tensions Escalate as IRGC Commander Assassinated, Civilian Casualties Reported
June 13, 2025 — Israel has initiated a full-scale military offensive against Iran, striking key nuclear enrichment facilities, ballistic missile factories, and military command centers across the country. The campaign, dubbed “Operation Rising Lion”, was announced by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a preemptive effort to eliminate what he described as an “existential threat” posed by Tehran’s nuclear ambitions.

Two prominent Iranian nuclear scientists — Fereydoun Abbasi and Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi — were confirmed dead in the strikes, further damaging Iran’s strategic capabilities.

U.S. intelligence assessments continue to indicate that Iran has not resumed its nuclear weapons program, though Israel insists Iran has accumulated enough material to build 15 bombs “within days.”
